Education and Vocational Training for Marginalized Groups

SORDES prioritizes education for marginalized communities, including pastoralists and rural populations, who often face significant barriers due to poverty, nomadic lifestyles, and cultural factors. By improving access to education and vocational training, SORDES seeks to uplift these communities, enabling them to lead more productive and self-sufficient lives.

The organization operates mobile schools tailored to pastoralist communities, ensuring children have access to education despite frequent migrations. These schools focus on literacy, numeracy, and life skills, offering flexible curricula that balance education with herding responsibilities. SORDES also builds and rehabilitates community-based schools, providing free education, school supplies, and scholarships to children from low-income families.

Vocational training is another cornerstone of SORDES’s efforts. Training programs in trades like carpentry, tailoring, and masonry equip youth and adults with practical skills aligned with local labor market demands. Collaborations with local businesses further enhance job opportunities, while specialized training helps graduates start small businesses or secure stable employment.

Future goals include expanding mobile education programs and vocational training centers to reach more underserved communities. SORDES also plans to increase advocacy for education, especially for girls, by addressing cultural attitudes that limit their access to schooling. These initiatives empower communities to achieve lasting improvements in their quality of life.
